Fall Denial

It can’t be almost September.

I refuse to believe that there are only a few fleeting moments left of summer. How has this happened? I swear, it was the Fourth of July just, like, yesterday. And now Labor Day weekend is just around the corner? I won’t go quietly, I’ll tell you that much…Unless someone wants to give me $500 fo a pair of these:

Hello, beautiful

Nothing takes the edge off the end of summer like some gorgeous Tory Burch riding boots. Fact. And actually, I only need $495. Which means you can buy yourself a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks with that extra $5. Deal? And yes – I am one of those super annoying people who lives and dies for pumpkin spice latte season. I’m sorry, I just can’t help it. I’m a walking cliche, you know this.

The thing is, I really do like fall. All my favorite TV shows come back on, football starts, stores start selling Halloween candy, pumpkin beer hits the shelves…these are all good things. Also, I’ve coerced my new runner of a sister to do this with me:

The Bucktown 5K on September 18th. I’m super excited about this race because a) I need a race to zap me out of this running funk I’m in and 2) I love Bucktown, though I’m not nearly cool enough to hang out there regularly and 3) I love running with my sister. Though the chances of her beating me, as she did by a second at this year’s Shamrock Shuffle are pretty damn good considering her training regimine these days is much more impressive than mine.  No matter. As we’ve already concluded, I’m motivated purely by material things and this is in the goodie bag:

It’s ridiculous how much I love running swag. It makes me feel like maybe one day I’ll be a real runner. Unlikely, I know. But fall is the season of possibility**, so you never know what might happen.

But it’s not fall quite yet. Which means I’m going to do my best to squeeze the last bits of summer out of this weekend with some excessive sun exposure, rooftop drinks to celebrate a certain lady’s birthday and whatever other summer-related activities I can cram into these final hours of August…

Afterall, those pumpkin spice lattes will be here before we know it. I highly encourage you to get out there and do the same.

**Yeah, I totally made this up. But it sounds good, right?

  1. I’m actually looking forward to fall, too. I would just like to skip winter is all. And summer’s REALLY not over until I’ve fully celebrated my birthday (it falls at a good time of year for that place marker), PLUS it’s supposed to be in the 90’s…so I’m going to keep wearing my sandals for now. :) Have you run that race before? I feel like I remember people saying that it’s fun.

  2. I’m not entirely ready to let go of the summer, but I do love fall. I love soup, and boots, and stepping on crunchy leaves when I’m running. So at least there’s something to look forward to when I have to finally put away all my fun summer shoes. :)

I am usually the biggest fall hater of all time and I’m really sad summer is ending, but for some reason this fall has me kind of excited. And I want those boots now, more than I’ve wanted any material possession in a long time.

  4. I love pumpkin lattes! I’m a sucker for anything seasonal. :)

LOVE those boots. Love anything Tory but that stuff is $$. :(

Your idea for a 5k is right with mine! I think it’s great to have a little motivation and a good distance – plus race swag. Always love a goodie bag!

I hope you squeeze in as much as you can! And even when September arrives, I bet we will still have some warm weather for you :)

I did get a few pumps of pumpkin in my soy chai lattes last fall. Love!

  7. Hi there! Just stumbled across your blog and noticed you’re a fellow Chicagoan. Gorgeous Tory Burch boots…let’s split ’em half and half? Rotate every other weekend? 😉 PS I also live for pumpkin spice latte season

  8. Hi Molly! I love your blog, and I’ve given you the The Liebster Blog Award!
